Everything you need to know about chartering a yacht in the British Virgin Islands.
Charters typically include the yacht, crew (captain and chef on crewed charters), fuel for standard cruising, linens, water toys, and snorkel equipment. Provisions, alcohol, docking fees, and gratuities are usually extra.
For bareboat charters, yes—you'll need certification. For crewed charters, no experience is necessary. A professional captain and crew handle all navigation and operations while you relax and enjoy.
Peak season is December through April with ideal weather and calm seas. May through November offers lower rates and fewer crowds, though there's higher hurricane risk (August-October).
For peak season, we recommend booking 6-12 months in advance. For off-season trips, 3-6 months is usually sufficient. Last-minute availability may be possible but with limited yacht selection.
Pack lightweight clothing, swimwear, sun protection (reef-safe sunscreen), non-marking boat shoes, casual evening wear, and any personal medications. Yachts typically provide towels, snorkel gear, and water sports equipment.
Many families choose yacht charters for unique vacation experiences. We can recommend family-friendly yachts with appropriate safety equipment and crew experienced with children.
