CAPTAIN Toby Wilson & CHEF Kirsty Egner
Coming from London, Toby first discovered sailing as a child, learning to sail on lakes before developing a lifelong love of simply being on the water. After college, he spent almost five years working in professional kitchens before deciding to follow his passion for the ocean and pursue a career at sea.
Since then, he has worked his way through his professional qualifications and become a PADI Divemaster, building experience across sailing, diving, and life aboard yachts. Today, he brings that combination of seamanship, curiosity, and enthusiasm to every charter, sharing with guests the beauty, adventure, and freedom that drew him to the ocean in the first place.
Whether sailing between islands, diving beneath the surface, exploring by tender, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon anchored in a beautiful bay, he believes the best days on a yacht are the ones that feel effortless. His aim is to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where guests can make the most of their time on the water, while knowing they are in safe and capable hands.
For him, life at sea is about more than simply getting from one place to another. It is about the experiences along the way—and his greatest joy is helping guests discover that for themselves and creating memories that last long after they leave the boat.
Kirsty grew up in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, surrounded by a vibrant community and never far from the water. From a young age, she has always felt most alive around the ocean, and her love for the water naturally became a big part of her life. She spent many years as a swim coach, giving her the opportunity to share that passion with others while discovering how much she enjoys connecting with people.
Today, Kirsty feels incredibly grateful to be doing what she loves—meeting wonderful people from all walks of life and creating memorable experiences along the way. Naturally bubbly, curious, and genuinely interested in hearing people’s stories, she brings a warm and welcoming energy to everything she does. She has a huge love for the underwater world and everything it has to offer, while equally enjoying the simple pleasure of bringing people together around a table to share good food, laughter, and great conversation.
For her, it’s all about creating a comfortable environment where people feel welcome, relaxed, and connected, while ensuring they leave with plenty of special memories from their time on board.
Toby and Kirsty met each other onboard and instantly found they worked naturally well together. With Kirsty’s bubbly, energetic personality and Toby’s calm and steady demeanour, they bring a balance that creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for everyone onboard. Their different strengths complement each other, whether they’re preparing for a day on the water, exploring a new anchorage, or simply enjoying time with guests. No matter what the plan is, the joy and chemistry between them carries through into the guest experience, helping create a charter that feels friendly, effortless, and fun.

What a week! We cannot begin to thank you for your exceptional hospitality. From the incredible snorkeling to the delicious meals, you went above and beyond to make this the most memorable trip for our families. We felt so well cared for and relaxed, all thanks to your professionalism and expertise. We will think of this week fondly for decades to come and can't wait for our next trip with you two at the helm. <br />

March 2026 BVI Charter
What a great week! I knew it was going to be spectacular right when we were greeted with appetizers and champagne. Max knew exactly where to take us for the best experiences. John's meals were absolutely wonderful. Some the best meals I've ever had and we were able to try new things. It was a week I will never forget!<br />

This was a dream trip for us. Max and John elevated the trip so much. Max knew the BVI and the places to visit at the best times. Norman Island, Peter Island, the Baths, and White Bay were wonderful. John's cooking skills were nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to the crew of Liquid Zen for a vacation of a lifetime.<br />

There are no words that give justice to this amazing trip. Not only did we see the best water and views, we had the best captain and chef ever. Max and John-you out did yourselves from start to finish and every detail in between. I can't thank you enough for helping me experience my first successful snorkeling trip. The knowledge you have, the stories you tell and the joy you bring to Liquid Zen is and will be a great part of my memories. You are both extremely skillful and, I know that my friends and family will want to sail with you in the future. They need to experience the grace Max exudes when guiding us to our next destination and the food wow! John knows how to tantalize our taste buds. Thank you for everything! I'm not sure where to start, to say this trip was a dream come true after 30 years of dreaming about doing it doesn't even give justice to the fabulous journey we have been on for this past week. <br />
Max and John, <br />
you all make an unbelievable team full of skill, grace, and laughter. The sailing was magnificent and the gourmet food (the quality of a 5 star restaurant!) helped make the trip the memory of a lifetime. I can see great things for the both of you and hope this isn't our last trip together. <br />
Thank you both for leaving out hearts full and out experience one for the ages! We love the education of the islands and the cooking knowledge we are leaving with. <br />
